The Black Mountain are born from the ashes of Jerk With A Bond, which included the leader Stephen McBean and JoshuaWells. Soon the group is transformed into a real collective called Black Mountain Army, which also promotes parallel side-project of the group (for example, the Pink Mountaintops the same McBean). The band's first album is self-titled Black Mountain (Jagjaguwar, 2005), that surprises the critics thanks to the skilful blend of hard rock and psychedelia. In the second work In The Future (Jagjaguwar, 2008), the band adds to their sound elements of progressive rock and folk; the choice is rewarded, and the album was nominated for Best Alternative Album Juno Awards 2009. The third job Wilderness Heart (Jagjaguwar, 2010) pushes towards greater appreciation of the American folk sound is always at their classic psychedelic sound hard matrix.
The Black Mountain are Stephen McBean (vocals and guitar), Amber Webber (vocals), Jeremy Schmidt (keyboards), Jonny Olsin (bass, keyboards) and Joshua Wells (drums).
