Why you should go there

The first edition of Paredes de Coura Festival was held in 1993 and since then is held every year in August. It's one of the largest music summer festival in Portugal. Some of the bands that performed during that time included Breed77, Pixes, Electrelane, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, LCD Sound System, Queens of the Stone Age, PJ Harvey. Currently it's one of the lagest festivals in the country. It is termed as one of the Europeans best and has over 25 years of experience. The place where the festival is located is uttely spectacular with a site in idyllic Portuguese country side. The surrounding is very beautifult and includes wood land and its disserted by the Coura river and the banks that makes it the best relaxation site in the whole period of the festive weeked. The spanish edition of the Rolling Stone magazine has termed the festival as one of the best and most sort off summer festivals in Europe. It has attracted the likes of Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Arcade Fire, etc.

The place includes idyllic green scenery and snaking water of the coura river. Festival's venue is located in the Portuguese municipality of the Parades de Coura in the northern Portugal. To acess the venue, Oporto-Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (Portu) is the closest international airport to the festival, take the subway into the city centre then take a taxi to the venue. Alternatively you can catch a train from Porto out to Valença do Minho then a bus to the venue. Both children and adults can asses the venue.

Besides the music the festival offers other events and activities: arts, talks, yoga, meditation and it also gives an opportunity for people to keep fit. It has nice places where people can be accomodate such as bell tents, forest lodges, that looks soo natural and nice. On the past two decades the festive has attracted the fans of indie and rock music. The government has also supported the festival because it's a source of employment to people around and also the place attracts thousands of tourists generating income and revenue for the region.
